Pick Up Your Laptops and iPads!

Medina Elementary has announced their device distribution schedule and pickup procedures! Here is their full release:

Dear Medina Families,

We are excited that all BSD students will receive a device to use for remote learning this fall! Students in grade K-1 will be provided with iPads, while those in grades 2- 5 will receive a Windows-based laptop.

Medina’s technology distribution will take place Tuesday August 25 – Thursday August 27th during 30-minute time slots assigned by LAST NAME. Please plan to arrive during your designated time in the schedule to ensure your student has ample time to set-up their device.

Reminders:
If anyone in your family has COVID-19 symptoms, or has had contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, or is still in their isolation period for testing positive for COVID-19 do NOT pick up technology at the scheduled time and contact us to make alternate arrangement.
- All students and accompanying adult must wear a mask.
- Only one adult from each family may accompany students through the process.
- Please maintain physical distancing.
- Please bring a pen or pencil.
- If your child is unable to come on their designated day but a parent can make it, please come in place of your child.

Process:
The process should take less than 30 minutes and will include:
1 Check in & health screening
2) Medina staff will check out the assigned device to your student(s)
3) You and your student(s) will take the device to a table and practice logging in, joining a Microsoft Teams meeting, and opening Outlook email. There will be instructions posted as well as Medina staff on hand to help.

Schedule:
Time slots are organized in an alphabetical range by last name. Please find your correct pickup time in the table below. For example, a student with the last name of “Ren” would pick their computer up on 8/26 at 2:00 pm. All siblings at Medina can receive their device at the same time, whether or not they share the same last name. Families with siblings with different last names should come to the slot assigned to the sibling last name that comes first in the alphabet.

Regrettably we will not be able to make shifts and changes to the student pick up schedule as this is a very tight timeline. If you are unable to pick up your student’s device at the assigned time, we will notify you of an alternative pick-up time prior to the start of school.

Here are some last few additions for our upcoming days, Tues - Thurs. next week:

 

1. We have about 55 bags of students' personal items left to distribute to parents.  If your child was not been able to pick their bag with their desk and cubby items in late June, just let us know when you come for their device(s) next week.

 

2. If you have any Medina library books left to return please bring those with you.  Anyone can take them for you when you come.

 

3. If your child can not make it but a parent can, come anyway. :)  The page of instructions and the upcoming live BSD Teams sessions (see my original email for that information at the bottom of that past email) will aid you in walking your child through their login and set up of Teams, One Note, etc.  

 

4. If your assigned time will not work, but another will, please come at that alternate date or time.  Otherwise please stick to your assigned time as this will be a very busy project to get almost 500 deviced handed out to families.  

 

5. If you will be out of town or will have significant conflicts with coming any of the three days, we will have an alternate pick up day, Wed. Sept. 2nd, from 9:00-12:00.  Please just come any time within these three hours, no need to arrange it with us. 

 

Lastly, It is imperative that your child pick up their device and use their BSD device for their school year.  BSD has loaded numerous software on each device to allow for ease and accuracy of access for students and families.  Even if you feel your child already has a device that you think will be enough, please come get your student's device and have them use this for their schooling with us this year.
