What is the PTA?

Parents interested in supporting our teachers, staff, students, and each other.

We are comprised of an executive committee, board of directors, and general assembly.  PTA members represent about 83% of the families at Medina Elementary, but we hope to have 100% participation in supporting our school!

What we do:

1. Help build a feeling of community at Medina Elementary.

2. Provide programs, activities, and personnel that help enhance our children’s education.

3. Raise funds to pay for #1 and #2.

How we do it:

1. Community:  We organize all-school events, assemblies, principal coffee chats, and after-school clubs. The Byte (online newsletter) provides information about events and links to resources the entire school community can be a part of.

2. Programs & Personnel: We fund additional instructional aides, who provide teachers with more time to spend with students. This directly benefits every student. We are fortunate to have a Technology Program, including a dedicated specialist, equipment, and resources that would not be possible without PTA funding. PTA Programs include:

  • Curriculum Enhancement and Grants: fieldtrips, online subscriptions, classroom resources, and in school activities.
  • Student-driven programs like the Missoula Children’s Theater and Talent Show.

3. Fundraising:  Fundraising is done through two main events: Dance-a-thon and Auction.  Anyone and everyone can participate in these events – parents, grandparents, friends and family, near and far.

Why Join Our PTA:

We are part of the National Parent Teacher Association® (PTA) which is the oldest child advocacy organization in the United States. The National PTA provides parents and families with a powerful legislative voice to speak on behalf of every child and the best tools to help their children be safe, healthy, and successful—in school and in life.

Your membership is your voice (legislative voice) for the children of Medina Elementary. The more members our PTA has, the more voting delegates we receive at the state level. More voting delegates means more votes that support the interests of Medina Elementary and its families. Our kids are worth the investment and a strong PTA illustrates our community’s support to our school and children.

PTA members have access to many benefits and discounts to businesses such as Avis Car Rental, Barnes & Noble, Budget Car Rental, Great Wolf Lodge, KeyArena/McCaw Hall, Wild Waves 0 Enchanted Village, and many more.  See extended list at Washington PTA webpage.

Join our PTA and you join a group of people committed to improving the lives and education of our children. We need your help, your ideas, your skills and your financial support!

Our goal is to have 100% participation through our parent community!  See our Membership Update page.
