Presidents' Message

Hello Medina Community! We hope everyone has a terrific Spring Break.

Even though there is no school next week, you can still order your Mariners tickets for the Medina Family Night for the Star Wars themed game on 5/4/18. Ticket order deadline is next Friday 4/13/18.

We are looking for next year's PTA officers! If you can be on the nominating committee or would like to take a role next year, please contact us!

The school and PTA calendars are filling quickly as we head into the final two months of school. We have a couple great parent education opportunities as well as movie nights, STEM Week, World Culture Night, Talent Show and more coming up!

Lastly, please consider coming to our PTA General Assembly meeting on Friday 4/20/18. We are holding a free movie night as well so our children have a supervised place to be. Bring your own dinner at 5:30 and the movie and meeting will start at 6:00.  The PTA meeting is a great opportunity to find out what is going on in terms of events, vote on issues in our community and weigh in with your opinion.  We will be electing a nominating committee who will help find next year's board (let us know if you want to be on that). We will also hear from our principal, details about our auction results, the Bellevue School Foundation's Spring for Schools lunch and more! Hope to see you there!

Have a great week!

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Medina Community,

As a follow up to our recent, and ongoing, Medina Safety 2-part Emergency Preparedness training and our Parent Safety Forum we have had 6 teachers sign up for the late April full day Safety Academy Training.  This is an impressive number of teachers who committed to furthering their safety knowledge on behalf of their students and peers.  Numerous other teachers have also inquired about signing up for future training dates.

Thank you to our wonderful 1st Grade Families who hosted an amazing taco lunch for us this Wednesday.  We all ate very well, and had some lovely community time together.  Thank you for spoiling us so well and so often.

Have you noticed our newest addition to the front of our school?  Our World Culture Night banner.  We also have a new Welcome banner hung over the double doors outside of the art room.  Even more exciting are the individual flags – representative of each and every student in our Medina Community - that will be hung, over spring break, from the ceiling of our entry hallway.  These are truly an exciting additions be sure to come by to check out the banners and our new flags after break.  A very special Thank You goes out to Eileen Foley, Medina parent, and Susan Muller, Medina teacher, for their time and energy in bringing this visual celebration of diversity to our school.

Have a fun and restful spring break.

We need a nominating committee to find the dedicated individuals who will serve on next year's Executive Committee and Board of Directors. If you are interested in either being on the Nominating Committee or being involved on the Board or in a Committee Chair position, please contact

Our programs and events can't be done without you all! We need people driven to making our school a better place for our children to get involved!

Please join us to Spring for Schools!

Bellevue Schools Foundation’s annual fundraising luncheon is coming up on April 27th!  Will you join us in supporting this great nonprofit?  For more information or to register, please contact  Alternatively, you can check it out at  If you register through the BSF website and you’d like to be seated with other Medina parents, please feel free to select Jessica Rossman or Tracy Mayclin under “Table Seating Selection.”  In addition to supporting a great cause, it’s an opportunity to get together and meet more of our wonderful school community!

BSF is an independent nonprofit that supports the educational mission of Bellevue School District. BSF funds specific projects for individual schools, including Medina, and also works district-wide to develop new curricula that meaningfully improve the education our kids receive throughout their time in Bellevue schools. Among other projects, BSF is currently working on creating integrated K–12 computer science/computational thinking curricula—an effort that would make Bellevue among the first in the nation to have a unified computer science teaching plan that builds knowledge in this important field as students progress through their education. BSF is also directly funding special Medina Elementary experiences this year, such as: visits with acclaimed authors (Oliver Chinn for grades K-2; Dan Gemeinhart for grades 3-5); unique theatrical performances about immigration (grade 3), the 19th century gold rush (grade 4), and the American Revolution (grade 5); and for our upper grade art classes, a chance to learn directly from a glass artist and then create their own glass-fused tiles. BSF also funds ongoing teacher training through the National Board certification; many of Medina’s teachers have been through that program.  And BSF works to provide crucial resources for less fortunate students in our Bellevue community, including by providing tuition-free preschool to students who will benefit from a great start to their educational lives.
