Presidents' Message

We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and our surprisingly good weather. Please remember we have no school on Monday 1/29/18 as well.

We are working with our principal, Dr. Harvey, on determining topics that parents might want some information about regarding our children. She sent a survey out in her monthly newsletter Thursday and would appreciate your response. We want to bring up topics that you are interested in. Internet safety? Social interaction and group dynamics? Student time management skills? Please let us know what you would be interested in hearing about. This leads us to an upcoming parent ed opportunity at Clyde Hill (described below) that is open to the public. They are holding a panel discussion on Anxiety in our Children. If you are interested, please rsvp at

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Medina All-City Chess Tournament this weekend! Please see below for more details.

And lastly, we are closing the sign up for the Medina Wine Club at the end of January 1/31/18. This is a great opportunity for people who already enjoy wine to be sent 4 or 6 bottles a month of local (WA, OR) wines. The distribution company sponsoring this has agreed to make a generous donation ($900-$1200 per member) back to Medina Elementary. We need a minimum number of participants to make this happen, so please sign up below if you are interested.

Thank you again for all you do to help our children on this journey!

Yes ! Bellevue School District Levies

To continue a high-quality public education for our students, VOTE YES three times for the Bellevue School District levies on the February ballot!

The Bellevue School District has more than 20,000 students, and every one of them benefits from the levies. From art, music, band and orchestra for elementary students, to 7th period classes and tutorial for all middle and high school students; from nurses, counselors and technology staff to smartboards, projectors and printers; from shared and individual laptops to major building repairs and buses; from language immersion to gifted and special ed programs – ALL of our students benefit. What’s more, a strong public school system attracts families and businesses creating a strong community and a thriving local economy. We hope you will VOTE YES three times!

    Medina Wine Club

They have committed to making a sizable donation per wine club membership. While you can purchase this as a gift as well, all deliveries must be in the Medina/downtown Bellevue areas. Thanks to Medina Wine for this commitment to their community. Please fill in Wine Club Medina Order From to submit your order !

Jan. 25, 2018: Parent Ed - Anxiety in Our Children

Does your child worry too much? Do they seem to have a lot of fear and you can’t understand why? The Clyde Hill PTA Parent Ed committee is excited to announce our up coming event on January 25th from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the school library. We are hosting a panel discussion on “Anxiety in our Children.” We hope to provide a safe place for parents, teachers and friends to come listen and learn how to help support our children that struggle with worry in Elementary school.

Our highlighted presenters are psychologists Dr. Kendra Read and Dr. Jennifer Blossom from Seattle Children’s Hospital. Both Dr. Read and Dr. Blossom work with children and families in our community specializing in evidence-based treatment to help manage anxiety in our youth.

After the Seattle Children’s team presents, our own Maria Barrios (parent) and Tyah Young (school counselor) will join Dr. Read and Dr. Blossom to share experience and answer questions on how they support children at home and school. Please join us if you can. RSVP to We are currently trying to coordinate a craft activity hosted by Bellevue H.S. National Arts Honor Society for parents who cannot otherwise find childcare to attend this event. Please stay tuned to the Newsletter for more information on this portion of the event.
