Presidents' Message

We hope everyone has had a great first week back. Thank you to all of you who attended Friday night's General Assembly meeting/Movie night. It was a great turnout for the meeting while the kids had fun watching Spiderman and eating popcorn.

Ski Bus starts this week on Wednesday. Thank you to Manda Ederer and Mette Naness that organize this program!

The Medina Elementary will be hosting the12th Annual All-City Chess Tournament takes place on Saturday 1/2/2018. Be sure to sign up for this popular event. There are already over 200 chess players signed up!

We encourage all of you to vote Yes! Yes! Yes! on February 3, 2018 for the three levies that support the Bellevue School District to continue and expand education at our school and in the Bellevue area. For more information, please see below.

3 YES votes = Bellevue District funding!

The Feb 2018 election includes 3 very important levies for the Bellevue School District. Bonds and Levies are put on the ballot only once every four years. Bonds are used for buildings and Levies are used for learning. This year, there are no bonds for our district but there are 3 levies. Two are replacement levies to continue funding some of the amazing programs that set Bellevue apart and the third is a transportation levy. Bellevue District has grown tremendously but hasn't bought new buses in 15 years.

Approval of levies allows for the development of expanded learning programs, fulfilling the expectations of the local community as we prepare students for the global economy in which they will complete.  The Levy Election in February 2018 will hopefully continue a 23-year tradition of supporting our schools. Despite increased funding from the state, there are many programs that depend on these levies to continue, including gifted and special education, technology integration throughout the K-12 curriculum, art and music in elementary school, as well as 7th period classes and tutorial for middle and high school students. Programs and infrastructure built with these funds benefit every student attending Bellevue public schools.
At our PTA general assembly meeting on Friday, our PTA voted to make a donation to the Bellevue Quality Schools organization who will get the word out to educate the community about these important votes. Please vote if your able and encourage others in our community to do so as well. These funds affect all our students in all grades in the district. Thank you for your support.

Remember that there is no school January 15th or 29th.

Have a great week!

Tracy and Anita (Co-presidents, Medina Elementary PTA)
