Presidents' Message

Dear Medina Community,

We are thinking of you and your families at this time, and we hope you are feeling good and finding new routines that work well for you all. I don't know how many miles we are into our marathon experience, but I know that consistent effort and staying the course matter! Bravo to all of you for juggling all that you no doubt are. I know we are all learning so much about distance learning and how to help our little ones adapt to it. This has been a great learning opportunity in that regard! We are providing virtual TA support for Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Thank you to some generous and knowledgeable families in our community. See below for more information on that.

Thank you to our wonderful school administrators and teachers for their diligent work to give our kids daily learning opportunities. Our school staff has worked countless hours to on board with the programs they are using and provide content. Thank you!! We will keep you up to speed on things as we know what is ahead. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our community. We look so forward to the time we will be together again to celebrate learning and all of the other many wonderful activities and sports we miss so much at this time. Take good care and catch us on our Facebook page as we will be doing periodic live stream check-ins there.

Warm regards,
Marti and Yan

READ-A-THON

Thank you to everyone who participated in our third reading challenge! Winners will be announced next week.

Our FOURTH AND FINAL reading challenge begins TODAY! We understand that it more difficult to access books right now. Thus, we are no longer requiring students to choose their books from a Book List. Students may choose any good, age appropriate book for this challenge (parents, please help your children with this!). For each book you read, please submit your online book report HERE by May 31st.

For those of you who are still able to access books and want book suggestions, CLICK HERE to check out our brand new Book List.

Here are some e-book and audiobook resources:

Bellevue Schools Foundation

Hi there Medina Community! By now, you should have all received an email from me personally asking you to help the greater BSD community. Many of you have stepped up in wonderful ways; thank you so so so much!!! I cannot stress to you the impact our Medina Elementary community can have on those students most at-risk in Bellevue. Please consider giving today. Hoping you and your families are enjoying health and wellness during these extraordinary times.

-- Allison Frey, Medina Elementary BSF Ambassador, BSF Trustee

The developments around COVID-19 have put our most vulnerable students and families at risk. The Bellevue Schools Foundation has been asked to release $50,000 for emergency food for 3,500 students who normally rely on their school for nutritious meals. Additionally, the Foundation is paying for counselors that are providing virtual and phone counseling to secondary students facing anxiety and depression. Please donate in any amount today at Donate – Bellevue Schools Foundation
