Presidents' Message

Dear Medina Community!

We hope you all stayed warm during our snow days this week, and enjoyed playing in the snow with your little ones. Thank you to the wonderful Medina school staff and BSD for taking all necessary safety precautions and working hard to keep school grounds safe when we experience severe winter weather.

The 22nd Annual Medina Elementary Auction is coming on March 7th 2020, please get your tickets HERE! The theme this year is Believe Leap Achieve! We look forward to this night each year, you don't want to miss it. Please spread the word and invite your friends to join us as we join together to support our school!

Thank you to all of our program chairs who have been hard at work keeping our programs running. Our ski bus chairs have had their work cut out these last few weeks and have done an amazing job keeping our kiddos safe and organized on the ski hill, thank you, thank you!

Please reach out to us at info@medinapta.org if you have any questions or would like to get involved with PTA as we look to all that lies ahead in 2020 and 2021, we appreciate all you do and your commitment to our community.

Warm regards,
Marti Enke & Yan Guo
PTA Co-Presidents 2019-2020

Support Our PTA

We are less than 2 months away from the auction and could not be more excited! Did you purchase your ticket for our upcoming auction yet?

Tickets are now available for sale here.

Don’t forget to reserve your spot to come together as a community and support our beloved Medina Elementary. And, while doing so, you will have a chance at acquiring some awesome items, like a week stay at a 1-bedroom condo in Whistler during Christmas in 2020, New Year (2020/ 2021), or Valentine’s Day week in 2021. Need we say more?

Please visit our auction’s website to learn more about the event here.

Auction Volunteers Needed!

We partnered with Woodridge Elementary, Eastgate Elementary and Cherry Crest Elementary to swap volunteers for our upcoming auction evening. Swapping volunteers with these schools means that we will commit ~5 people from Medina Elementary to volunteer at their auctions in exchange for these schools sending volunteers our way. Volunteering at other schools’ auctions can be a great experience and a chance to network with local community, outside of Medina Elementary. Here are the evenings we are looking to fill for these schools:

  • Woodridge Elementary school auction volunteers are needed for the evening of February 8th, 2020. The auction is held at Bellevue Arts Museum
  • Eastgate Elementary school auction volunteers are needed for the evening of March 21st, 2020. The auction is held at Courtyard Marriott in Bellevue
  • Cherry Crest Elementary school auction volunteers are needed for the evening of April 25th, 2020. The auction is held at Bellevue Hilton

Please contact auction@medinapta.org if you would like more details on getting involved or any auction related questions and suggestions.

Filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level with Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience—a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.

READ-A-THON

There are only two weeks remaining in our second reading challenge! Please make sure your child submits an online book report for every book he or she reads from the December/January Book List by the January 31st deadline. This is the only way we will know how many and which books your child has read! Everyone who submits at least three book reports will receive a tassel to add to their special Read-A-Thon bookmark.

Do you want to learn more about Read-A-Thon? You can view the December/January Book List here, register your child for here, or visit the Read-A-Thon website here. Happy reading!

Catch Your Child Being Kind! Students Catch Their Parents Being Kind!

Compassion and Kindness Campaign ~ PHASE TWO!

For another week, we want to challenge all parents AND students, to catch others “being kind”. It’s easy – you see your child doing something kind – like the pictures above – helping a friend, modeling good sportsmanship, doing a chore for others…use your phone and grab a quick pic! Then simply upload your photo to https://forms.gle/zUWjDznSaonWYgWz7, and Ms. Shafiqa is going to put them on the Gallery TV for all to see! We are hoping that kids will also snap pics of you parents doing kind things! The goal is to have everyone take note and appreciate all those little kind things that happen every day!

The dates for this will be January 13th-January 24th! Thank you for participating and helping us spread the acts of Kindness!
