Presidents' Message
Dear Medina Community!
Happy November! Watching our community rally together these past few weeks to keep our foundation strong has been amazing. We cannot thank you enough for prioritizing a donation to the Capital Campaign! It matters and makes the difference at our school and we hope to see the support continue. If you still plan to donate the Capital Campaign online donation option is available on our website.
We look forward to upcoming fall semester events like Missoula Children's Theater and Bookfair, both in early December! Also, join us on November 22nd for our General Assembly PTA meeting in the Cafeteria at 8:10 a.m.
Looking ahead to the second half of our school year remember to SAVE THE DATE for our annual School Auction on March 7th 2020! The theme this year is Believe Leap Achieve! Our next planning meeting for the upcoming auction is scheduled for November 14th and will be held in room 206 at Medina Elementary from noon to 1pm. Please come and share your ideas about how to make this important fundraiser a success! Learn more HERE, including how to volunteer! Tickets will be available for purchase soon. This is an event you do not want to miss.
Thank you again for your meaningful support. A huge shout out to our room parents and classroom volunteers who planned some really amazing Fall Festivals this week. Classroom parties are a special time for the kids that they really look forward to.
Warm Regards,
Yan Guo and Marti Enke

Our first Reading Challenge starts NOW and ends November 27th!

Choose your books from our BOOK LIST of reputable, age appropriate books!

Our special Read-A-Thon bookmarks are being ordered now! Bookmarks will be distributed soon to those who have signed up for Read-A-Thon. Registration will remain open all school year here.

Please make sure your child submits an online book report for every book that he/she reads from the Book List. This is the only way we will know how many and which books your child read! Book reports are due November 27th. After this time, a new Book List will be released for the months of December and January.

To learn more about Read-A-Thon, please visit the Read-A-Thon page. Happy reading!

Thank you to those who have stepped up to volunteer for Academic Challenge! We are looking for just a few more volunteers interested in helping shape this brand new Medina program!

Academic Challenge is an extracurricular academic program that encourages students to expand their learning beyond what is taught in the classroom. Students complete challenges in seven (7) distinct categories: the artscultureliteraturescience & technologymathwellness, and community service. This allows students to dive further into their favorite topics as well as to explore projects outside of their comfort zone.

We need your support to make this program a success! Each parent volunteer will lead one category and will review all of the submissions from students in that category. Students can submit reports for a wide variety of projects, activities, or extracurricular classes (including PTA programs, self-studied topics, or projects of their own design). Thus, this is an opportunity for you to witness the creativity and breadth of activities/interests from students across the Medina Elementary community.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ailin Zhang and Fenghua Shen at

PTA Pulse

Join the Medina PTA. Membership dues are $14 for individuals or $27 for families. With a PTA membership, you'll receive a Medina Elementary School directory and you can sign your children up for PTA supported programs (plus much more!).

Our goal is to have 100% participation through our parent community. We are at 97% participation so far this year! Thank you to those who have joined/renewed. Volunteering is NOT required to join.

Update Your Account

We need up-to-date information for many of our families! Please sign into your account and double check that your family's information is correct, including your child's current grade and teacher.

Runners Club

The tentative last day of Runners Club for the fall is Thursday, November 14th. See you on Tuesday and Thursday mornings: come anytime between 7:25am and the first bell at 7:55am. It is getting cold, so please remember to dress appropriately. Our biggest complaint from kids is cold hands, so wear gloves

Missoula Children's Theatre

Thank you to all the families who have signed up for Missoula Children's Theatre. We have a fast growing list of actors! We'll be sending out more details about the event in the coming weeks to those who have signed up. Please stay tuned!

For those who would like to participate but haven't registered yet, please promptly sign up here to ensure your child has a spot in the audition.

The audition is from 2:35-5pm on Monday 12/9, culminating in performances on 12/14 at 3pm and 5:30pm. Rehearsals are every day during the week of 12/9 from right after school to 7pm. Once your child is cast, please commit to have your child present at rehearsals EVERY DAY. Click here for more information about Missoula Children's Theatre.

We are also calling for host families for the two touring directors from 12/8 afternoon to 12/15 morning. It's a great opportunity for your child to have an artistic and cultural exchange with the directors and launch lasting friendships. Plus your child is guaranteed a role in the play and waived participation fee. We sincerely appreciate your help in pulling this event off! If you are interested in being a host or have questions, please email
