Capital Campaign 2019
Hello Medina Community!
In one week, we will be sending a brightly colored envelope in your child's school folder for our Capital Campaign, a low cost easy fundraising model with high returns. It is also a chance for the entire Medina Elementary Community to be involved. This event will be running for only two weeks, from October 14-25!
We will be sending the envelopes home with our children on Thursday 10/10/19 and Friday 10/11/19. We are hoping for 100% family participation and are giving a prize to each student who returns the form and envelope. There are several choices on the donation form from making a contribution online to making monthly payments to sending in a check. Please return the form and envelope, even if you are choosing not to make a donation at this time or made one during Taking Care of Business! This way your child receives the prize and can feel a part of our efforts.
Families will be recognized on the website and in the Byte for their donations unless they choose to donate anonymously (also on the form).
Please click here for Frequently Asked Questions. Please feel free to contact with any questions or comments. We always want to hear from you.
Thank you for all you do to support the excellent education for our students at Medina Elementary!

Calling all 4th and 5th Graders!  It’s finally time to sign up for Miss Muller’s Kindness Club!  Thank you for being so patient~this is our 6th year!  Our club is starting October 24th and we will be meeting Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  THERE IS A CHANGE this year…parents read closely.  Your child MUST be dropped off by 7:30 to enter the assigned door.  Due to security rules, the door will be locked at 7:35.  It is not mandatory to attend every meeting but we ask that your child attend at least 1x/week. We have a lot of new ideas and we’re eager to get going.  Our first meeting will be Tuesday, October 22nd.  We already have a project ready to go! ??  Please print and fill out this form and return it to the office, no later than Thursday, October 17th.  It’s going to be a fabulous year!  ~Miss Muller

New and returning families, please join us on October 8th just after drop off (8:15 AM) in the ART ROOM for I-Connect. What's I-Connect you may ask? Well, I-Connect is a Medina legacy group that was started years ago at our school, by parents from our school, to offer support for parents who are new to our school and community as well as returning families. This is both a social and sometimes educational group for parents. Please join us on Tuesday October 8th for more information. Refreshments will be available too. If you have any questions, please contact Debbie at, Mei at or Maria at

Destination Imagination Update

DI will hold the 1st Team Managers meeting for the 2019-2020 season on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at the Bellevue Library (Room 6).

Great news! Our tiles from last year's Mission (Im)Possible auction were installed earlier this week. Great job to all those who bought and decorated a tile! You can find them on the totem poles near the crosswalk in the bus loop and next to the upper bike racks. The next time you're at the school, come take a look!

Volunteers Needed

Food Sharing program

Medina Elementary participates in a Food Share program that connects the unopened food that our children don't eat during their lunch and shares it with Hopelink, an organization that gets food to those that are hungry in our city. There are a few of us who rotate between pick ups on Tuesdays and Fridays to take food from Medina at 1 pm to Hopelink (148th and Main). This is an easy way to help those who have food instability in their lives! If you want to be part of this amazing chance to help fill a direct need in our community, please email for more information.

Medina Elementary PTA Auction

Thank you to everyone, who came to our Medina Elementary PTA 2020 Auction planning meeting! We shared a lot of ideas that would make our upcoming auction successful. Are you interested in joining our team and help plan a fantastic fundraiser for Medina Elementary PTA? We are still looking to fill the following volunteer roles:

  • Grade-level gift basket coordinator (up to 2 needed)

We are bringing back an auction favorite! Each grade will be responsible for coordinating a gift basket for the auction. We are seeking one or two volunteers to head up our Auction grade level baskets. As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for contacting the volunteer from each GRADE to make sure the gift baskets are assigned and completed by the timeline. This is a fun and easy way to contribute to the Auction team. Please contact Debbie at with any questions.

  • Favors/ gift bags coordinator (up to 2 needed)

We want to give a little extra to all auction attendees this year. As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for gathering items/ favors to put into gift bags that attendees receive at the auction. Bring out your creative side and help us make this auction a little more special this year!

  • Procurement coordinator (up to 2 needed)

Join our team and help with reaching out to the local community. As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for finalizing details on procured items and making sure they are in place and ready for our auction.

  • Dessert dash coordinator (up to 2 needed)

Everyone enjoyed our dessert dash, so we decided to bring it back. Have a favorite bakery? Know a baker or a chocolatier? Have a sweet tooth? If any or all of these are a descriptor, please consider joining our team! As a coordinator, you will make sure that all donated desserts are in place for our big day!

If you would like to volunteer or have questions about the auction, please email Svetlana Gershman at

PTA Pulse

Thank you to all the parents who have joined the PTA so far this year! Please sign into your account and double check that your family's information is correct.

You can still join the PTA or renew here or by completing the TCOB form here.

Cost: Family membership $27, Individual $14, and sponsor a staff $10. If you only have one child, you can still purchase Family Membership.

With a PTA membership, you receive a Medina Elementary School directory, can sign your children up for PTA supported programs, and much more!

Our goal is to have 100% participation through our parent community! Volunteering is NOT required to join!

What does the PTA do?

1. Help build a feeling of community at Medina Elementary (through family social events, field trips, assemblies, after school clubs, etc.).

2. Provide programs, activities, and personnel that help enhance our children’s education (including instructional aides for teachers and support our Technology Program).

3. Raise funds to pay for #1 and #2 (through our Auction, Capital Campaign, and other fundraisers).

Learn more here.

Runners Club

We run every Tuesday and Thursday morning! Everyone is welcome. Just show up anytime between 7:25am and the first bell at 7:55am, and join in this active and healthy activity to kick start your day! We run laps around the field when the weather is nice, and run sprints and drills in the uncover area if it's wet.

As we get further into fall, the weather is getting colder in the mornings. Luckily, running keeps you warm ... except for your fingers and ears! Please remember to bring gloves and ear warmers or a hat!
