Getting involved at Chinook Middle SchoolChinook’s PTSA is looking for parents/family members of incoming 6th graders to join our Board. We have a variety of positions including Co-President, Co-Vice President of Communications, Legislative Chair, and Co-Secretary available. Middle school is a critical time for kids to know their parents/families are involved and to see them being active at Chinook. Middle school PTSA is less time intensive than elementary PTSA’s can be. We have most of our PTSA positions for 2018-2019 split into Co-leadership positions. Our hope is to continue the tradition of teamwork, overlapping years of service for stability and shared knowledge, and to have fun while service our community. A core of our Board members are returning to serve next year. We still need about 6 or 7 new Board members. We’d love your involvement! If you have interest in exploring how you might be a part of the Chinook PTSA Board, please contact Nancy Huenefeld Gese at president@chinookptsa.org |

Coder SchoolFounded in Silicon Valley, the Coder School aims to promote and encourage coding between the ages of 7-18. Whether coding is an established passion or a new found hobby, the Coder School offers a uniquely fun service for either beginners or the experienced. Rather than using static one-size-fits-all curriculum's, our core program uses an immersion and mentoring approach in a super-small student to teacher ratio (typically 2:1). Instead of linear learning of concepts from a curriculum, we immerse the kids in coding by building stuff and then building more stuff! Here at the Coder School, we offer free 30 minute trials for all those interested!

Free Friday Art Activity by Bellevue Honor Society NAHSBellevue Arts Museum from 4-6pm, first Friday of each month. For the past four years, NAHS has been hosting Free Friday Art Activities (FFAAs) at the Bellevue Arts Museum from 4-6pm to provide children with access and the opportunity to enhance their artistic skills and interests. We have also reached out to our local elementary schools and public libraries to provide more ways for children to participate in our events. Through our cooperative efforts, we could provide children with even more spaces to cultivate innovation and ingenuity, as well as providing art education that is otherwise diminishing in local programs. |

CUB SCOUT PACK 435Last year, Cub Scouts from Medina Elementary School built and raced cars, rockets, and boats, built models, practiced archery, hiked, camped, biked, swam, practiced first aid, visited a fire station, helped distribute food to the needy, had a sleepover at the zoo, scooted around in a giant hamster ball, went fishing, and much more. And this year will be even better. Best of all, our Pack welcomes all boys. There are no tryouts. No cuts. We encourage boys to try new things, meet new friends, and push their limits in a supportive, no-bullying environment. The Cub Scout motto is “Do your best” and we strive to help our Scouts fulfill this promise. You can join anytime during the school year. Check out our calendar at www.pack435.org and join us for a meeting, event, or adventure. Go places. Do stuff. Be part of the fun and adventure of Cub Scouts.
